Frequently Asked Questions
-
My dog doesn’t know sit or stay
-
No problem, the use of a leash ensures dogs stay safe and enables gentle guidance to the best spots to capture great photos.
-
My dog cannot be off leash
-
See answer to Q1. And it also means your dog is most likely will be comfortable wearing a leash. Plus, it’s usually not difficult to remove leashes in editing. I can guide you in the best way to hold the leash so editing is easy.
-
My dog is super reactive
-
The world and all it’s noises can be scary for dogs sometime. The beauty of the studio is that they are in a contained space. I allow them time to check everything out and sensitise them to the lights. Should they react to the lights we can work with natural light. If we are doing an outdoor session I can use places that are less busy, plus I have a large and interesting garden.
-
My dog is high energy
-
I don’t require that dogs sit still or stay for extended time. If a dog is on the move my camera operates at high speed. In the studio treats and comfy furry rugs usually calms the most energetic souls. Using studio lights will also freeze action.
-
Can I be in the photos too?
-
Absolutely, I love to have the opportunity to capture the love and joy you have with your dog. There’s no pressure but I will be guided by your wishes.
-
How do I choose a location?
-
You may have something in mind and I love to hear what you envision. Our planning session is a great opportunity to discuss the pros and cons of some locations. Plus, I do offer a combined studio/beach session if you would love a bit of both.
-
What if it is raining?
-
If the weather is truly against us Then I’m quite happy to reschedule and move your session to a new date.
-
Do you photograph other pets?
-
I’ve photographed horses and cats but it’s best to discuss these sessions prior to booking.
-
Do you photograph multiple dogs?
-
I love capturing big dog families, however there needs to be an extra one or two handlers. This can be discussed at the time of enquiry. I have had 15 puppies in my studio at one time.
