Amaroo Whales September 22

It was a sunny and breezy day out on the water and there were plenty of whales about. The Amaroo headed towards an active pod who were happily and energetically circling a small dinghy. There were a mother and her calf plus an escort and also another whale who seemed to be a bit "pushy". There was quite a bit of head lunging and some vying for position or maybe competing for the female's favour.
We headed back towards Forster and came across a young whale who decided to practice some tail slapping. At first, the slaps were a little tentative but then the whale hit its stride. Backward, forwards and some decorative flutters and water sprays.
We were sad to leave them but all agreed it was another great whale watching cruise.
